Your Pain Is Not Your Address

When I didn't have a home, it was easy to believe that was who I was. Homeless. Like it was my name instead of my situation.

But where you are is not who you are. Your pain is a place you're passing through. It's not your permanent address.

I had to keep reminding myself of that. I'm a person going through something, not a person who is something. That small shift in how I saw it gave me room to hope.

If you're in a hard place, remember you're passing through it. I wrote UNLOCKED as proof that the address can change. Mine did.
